This 4-part guide will show you how to detail strip a P30-series gun (P30/P30S/P30L/P30LS).
Part 1 - Detail Stripping of the Slide
Tools you will need:
1. A 3/32 roll-pin punch
2. A set of long, needle-nose pliers
3. A bench block (optional)
4. A small hammer or mallet (not pictured)
Slide Disassembly
Step 1
• Remove the Recoil Spring Assembly
• Remove the barrel
Step 2
• Note the location of the Extractor roll-pin (circled in YELLOW), Firing Pin Block roll-pin (circled in RED), Firing Pin Block, and Firing Pin
• Using the 3/32 roll-pin punch, tap out the roll pin (circled in RED) from inside the slide until it falls out on the other side
• Push down on the Firing Pin Block while pushing inward on the Firing Pin, then release the Firing Pin Block
• The Firing Pin should be disengaged from the firing pin channel
• Remove the Firing Pin, Firing Pin Spring, Firing Pin Block, and Firing Pin Block Spring

Step 3
• Locate the Extractor roll pin and, with the 3/32 roll-pin punch, tap it out from the inside the slide until it falls out on the other side
• Remove the Extractor, Extractor Spring, and the Extractor Rubber Plug

Slide Re-assembly
Step 1
• Insert the Extractor Rubber Plug inside the Extractor Spring
Step 2
• Insert the Extractor Spring + Rubber Plug into the cavity next to the extractor channel
Step 3
• Oil the Extractor lightly. A very thin coat would do
• Replace the Extractor, making sure the Loaded Chamber Indicator is facing the muzzle
Step 4
• While holding the Extractor in place, insert the Extractor roll pin and tap it in using the 3/32 roll-pin punch until the pin sits slightly below the slide surface
• Flip the slide over and make sure the roll pin is slightly visible from the top of the slide (circled in RED)
Step 5
• Oil the Firing Pin lightly but DO NOT oil or lube the Firing Pin channel!
• Insert the Firing Pin into the Firing Pin Spring
• Insert the Firing Pin into the firing pin channel, making sure the cut on the Firing Pin is facing the right side of the slide (circled in RED)
Step 6
• Drop the Firing Pin Block Spring into the slide, then the Firing Pin Block on top of it. Note the orientation of the Firing Pin Block
• Push down on the Firing Pin Block while pushing inward on the Firing Pin, then release the Firing Pin Block. This will lock the Firing Pin in place
• Push inward on the Firing Pin then insert the Firing Pin Roll-Pin until it goes in 1/2 way. Then let go of the Firing Pin
• Using the 3/32 roll-pin punch, tap in the roll-pin until it sits slightly below the slide surface
• Flip the slide over and make sure the Firing Pin Block roll pin (circled in YELLOW) and Extractor roll-pin (circled in RED) are slightly visible from the top of the slide
Step 7
• Replace the barrel
• Replace the Recoil Spring Assembly
Part 2 - Disassembly and Re-assembly of Magazine Release Lever
Disassembly of Magazine Release Lever
Tools you will need:
• A 3/32 roll-pin punch
• A small hammer or mallet (not pictured)
Step 1
• Locate the Magazine Release Lever roll pin
• Using the 3/32 roll-pin punch, tap out the roll pin
Step 2
• Carefully remove the Magazine Release Lever and Spring

Re-assembly of Magazine Release Lever
Step 1
• Put a drop of oil on the Magazine Release Lever Spring
• Drop the spring inside the cavity on the lever
Step 2
• Carefully guide the Magazine Release Lever into the frame. Note the orientation of the lever and its spring
• A small blade knife could be used to compress the spring while guiding the lever into its location
Step 3
• Insert the roll pin and, using the 3/32 roll-pin punch, tap it in until it sits evenly inside the frame
Part 3 - Frame Disassembly
Frame Disassembly
Tools you will need:
• A 1/16 roll-pin punch
• A 3/32 roll-pin punch
• A 1/16 regular punch
• A 3/32 regular punch
• A couple of small strips of coffee stirrer
• A small, flat-tipped screwdriver
• A set of long, needle-nose pliers
• A dental pick
• A small hammer or mallet (not pictured)
Step 1
• Locate the backstrap roll pin on the backstrap (circled in RED)
• Using the 3/32 roll-pin punch, tap out the pin and remove the backstrap

Step 2
• Locate the Hammer Spring Bearing at the bottom of the grip and the pin that holds it in place (circled in RED)
• Using the butt of a punch, push up on the bearing to compress the hammer spring
• Push out the pin that holds the bearing (or just wiggle slightly on the frame and the pin will fall out)
• Remove the Hammer Spring, Hammer Spring Bearing, and pin

Step 3
• Lay the frame flat on its left side, locate the Sear Axle (circled in RED)
• Using the 3/32 regular punch, push out the Sear Axle from the right to the left side of the frame, and remove the axle. The left side of the sear axle is a little larger than the right side so pushing it out from the opposite direction will not work
• Remove the Disconnector
• Remove the Control Latch and Catch
• Remove the Sear with Decocker

If yours is a P30S or P30LS, skip to step 5
• Locate the Hammer Axle (circled in RED)
• Depress lightly on the Trigger Bar, push out the Hammer Axle using the 3/32 regular punch, and remove it
• Remove the Hammer
• Remove the Hammer Strut

If yours is a P30 or P30L, continue with step 6
• Locate the tiny Safety Lever Retaining Pin on the left-side Safety Lever (circled in RED)
• Stand the frame on its grip, using the 1/16 roll-pin punch, tap out the Safety Lever Retaining Pin (circled in RED)
• Remove the pin
• Remove the left-side Safety Lever
• Locate the left-side Safety Lever Detent Pin (circled in RED)
• Remove the Detent Pin and the spring underneath it
• Depress lightly on the Trigger Bar and remove the right-side Safety Lever

Step 6
• Locate the Trigger Bar
• Lift it up 90 degrees and while pulling lightly on the trigger, disconnect the Trigger Bar from the trigger
• Remove the Trigger Bar
• Locate the Trigger Bar Detent in the grip area. Take a punch and push up lightly on the bottom end of the detent. Be careful when doing this step as the Trigger Bar Detent and Spring will come flying out of the frame.
Step 7
• While the frame is upside down, locate the Flat Sear Spring from the bottom of the grip
• Using the flat-tipped screwdriver, push on the tiny latch of the Flat Sear Spring (circled in RED) to disengage it from the frame
• Using the needle-nose pliers, remove the Flat Sear Spring from the frame
Step 8
• Look behind the trigger and locate the left leg of the Trigger Rebound Spring (circled in RED). Note its position on the trigger
• Look at the Trigger Rebound Spring and note the position of the spring's right leg. The leg rests upon the groove of the left-side Slide Release Lever
• Using the dental pick, lift up the right leg of the spring while pushing out the Slide Release Lever. Make sure the leg completely clears the groove before pushing out the lever
• Remove the left-side Slide Release Lever
• Lift up the right-side Slide Release Lever (30 degrees) and remove it from the frame
Step 9
• Locate the Trigger Axle on the right side of the frame (circled in RED)
• Using the 1/16 regular punch, push out the Trigger Axle from the right to the left side of the frame, and remove it from the frame. Pushing it out from the opposite direction will not work.
• While backing out the punch, remove the Trigger Rebound Spring
• Remove the Trigger from the frame

• Look at the Trigger Rebound Spring and note the position of the spring's right leg. The leg rests upon the groove of the left-side Slide Release Lever

• Using the dental pick, lift up the right leg of the spring while pushing out the Slide Release Lever. Make sure the leg completely clears the groove before pushing out the lever

• Remove the left-side Slide Release Lever

• Lift up the right-side Slide Release Lever (30 degrees) and remove it from the frame

• Locate the Trigger Axle on the right side of the frame (circled in RED)

• Using the 1/16 regular punch, push out the Trigger Axle from the right to the left side of the frame, and remove it from the frame. Pushing it out from the opposite direction will not work.


• While backing out the punch, remove the Trigger Rebound Spring

• Remove the Trigger from the frame
