Based upon what I have seen and chronicled: :)

BOLT CARRIERS

Full auto/buffered bolt carrier (1974-1975)
Semi auto/buffered bolt carrier (1975-1982)
Semi auto/non-buffered bolt carrier (1982)
No imports (1983-1986)
Semi auto/buffered bolt carrier (1987-1989)

a) 1987-1989 utilized buffered 1982 bolt carriers

STOCKS

Non-buffered
(1974-1979)
? (
1980-1981)--- presume non-buffered
Buffered (1982)
No imports (1983-1986)
Non-buffered (1987)

a) 1987 utilized buffered 1982 bolt carriers

Buffered (1988-1989)

a) 1988-1989 utilized buffered 1983 stocks

Thank you for your research and response. You have listed in both categories no import 83-86 is that correct or am I misunderstanding something? Ive see an ID date coded 93a2. I thought it was just 84/5 that none were brought in.

You may be referring to the import numbers--- I am talking about manufacturing dates. :giggle:
The last and first serial numbers on the HK93 that I have seen:

IC (82) A136663 (HK/Arlington)
ID (83) (none imported)
IE (84) (none imported)
IF (85) (none imported)
IG (86) (none imported)
IH (87) 42-136667 (HK/Chantilly)

It is possible for an ID (83) to be in between A136663 and 42-136667, but I would need photographic proof to revise the Firearms Reference Data. ;)

Interesting. It must have fallen into that category i guess. My cousin sold that one some years back no way to get a pic. Is there an actual import numbers list?

That was purportedly import number data from HK. :)
I will presume that those imported in 1983 were actually manufactured in 1982. ;)
I cannot answer the 1 in 1986.

Thanks--- I had not seen that video before. :)
Unusual to have a notched/semi-auto/buffered bolt carrier, though the markings (or lack thereof) are consistent with other samples seen. ;)
