AR-10 "Hollywood" Muzzle Brake disassembly and mounting

Anyone have any info or hints at how the early AR-10 muzzle brakes were mounted onto the rifle and assembled/disassembled? I'm interested in this muzzle device and how it worked.

I did more digging (I've been trying to find photo/info on this for a while) and here's a photo of it disassembled:

Also, there's ports in the barrel where the "can" attaches that vent into it to suppress the flash and muzzle blast, which I didn't know before.
