770 like nrw in box, but no box. gun smith gave up since it jams when you start to pull cocking lever. HK does not support hunting rifles since over 45 years old.

Jam is easy to fix, but keeps jamming after reassembly. Two hard springs seem to have big resistance together. Hammer and recoil spring not broken in in 45 years. Someone just made it a safe queen.

HK customer service said go to HK PRO forum. Some help, but some were not. Hope you members are nice in this forum!

Welcome to the site. :)
Much friendlier here. ;)
No experience with the HK 770--- ensure that the chamber area, bolt carrier, bolt head, and locking piece are clean, lightly lubricated, and free of any debris or residue--- someone may be along to adequately answer your query. :giggle:

Welcome and good luck. Sounds like you would have to have it in hand to tell much but many here have expertise in HK builds. I hope one can tell you.

Thanks for replies, but this HK hunting rifle was a product of German gun control and the hunters paid the price in a very complex engineered hunting rifle costly to produce. Had 94 got written letter how to legally convert th short barrel rifle( $200 fee) then get select fire fire controls ( another $200) plus controls and gun smithing. My cost $3k 94, permits say $509, gun smithing (cut barrel and crown) say $300 and fire controls say $15,000. Selling price of converted 94 $25,000. Sears were going with stamp and numbers say $15,000 for that little piece of metal. The welded shelf should not be touch per ATF since they would consider this the manufacturing of a machine gun. 94 was a toy compared to 770 series guns!

Due to wife lung cancer had to move to NY, sell Florida home, boats five Walthers with large capacity magazines. Cost me $1000 in trade ins plus shipping and FFL fees, storage while waiting 6 months to get pistol licence renewed say $2000.Bummer! But after 56 years if marriage that's the price you have to oay!
