Currently, this is the information on the HK94 California Department of Corrections (sometimes referred to as "DOJ" rifles:
Manufacturing Years
- some 1987/1988/1989/1991 (no 1990 importation)
- some with electro-stenciled ("rack numbers") markings on the receiver
Configurations
- CA. DOC ordered the HK94's with “u-notch”, or “castle” apertures (SP89-type rear sight), as opposed to “circular” apertures (HK91/HK93/earlier HK94-type rear sights), and A2 stocks
1991 Order
- CA. DOC ordered 420 in 1990/1991
- HK USA retained 110 (1991 manufacturing (KB) that came with the newer barrels with 16-flute chambers, “Action 3” bolt heads, and “circular” apertures (HK91/HK93/earlier HK94-type rear sights), and A3 stocks) from CA. DOC for dealer sales in the U.S. (distributors- DSA, R-Guns)
- CA. DOC returned 310 to HK USA in 2004 for resale
