USPc9 trigger return issue

I installed some match pieces (hammer, hammer spring, trigger spring, short reset) on my USPc9 tonight. I learned installing the trigger spring will magically make you use foul language in German even if you don’t know the language. After function checking I have discovered if I fire from DA the trigger does not spring forward unless I give it a little nudge, almost like it’s dragging on something. The spring is installed properly, so I can’t figure out where the obstruction is. Or is it the fact that I used the factory trigger? With the slide removed, a fast squeeze and fast release, the trigger will reset. But if I squeeze the trigger (fast or slow) and ease off the trigger it will not reset.

Any assistance or recommendations would be appreciated.

TIA!

You need the trigger spring tool sold by HKParts, but it's really just a pair of needle nose pliers slightly modified. You could do it yourself from the picture.

The trigger spring is installed correctly. It just seems there is drag on the trigger preventing it from moving forward and resetting. If I give it a little nudge, it will spring forward.

Have you shot to see if it loosens up a bit? Just bear in mind dragging and grinding are two different things… grinding can be indicative of something installed incorrectly and could cause damage to the internals as well as the frame.
I am not an expert by no means.
Thanks,
M.

I don’t hear any grinding. Just seems to drag and meet enough resistance to prevent the trigger from moving forward and resetting. It doesn’t do it near as often when the slide is off, but it’s constant with the slide assembled.

I have heard of that happening before.
I installed the Gray Gun TRS kit but not the other parts that you did.
I am willing to guess it’s the trigger spring, but once again, I’m not an expert.
I have heard that it usually fixes itself after a few sessions of rounds, but like I said… I’m no expert!

Also, it could be a problem with either the trigger bar return spring or its plunger (circled in the pic). I have had one or both of those parts create exactly the issue you described, but on a P30 (same basic component design, so it stands to reason it could happen on the USPC).

This is located down in the frame towards the back portion of the trigger bar, to the side of the hammer. Occasionally I've seen the plunger get a bit stuck in its hole due to carbon build up, causing it to prevent full spring pressure on the back of the trigger bar. For me, that resulted in a sluggish reset or occasional failure to reset.

I'd say pull the trigger bar return spring and plunger, clean the hole thoroughly, reinstall just those two components, and use a punch or something to test them out and see if they articulate well. If so, reinstall everything and try it out.

That never occurred to me but I believe it is entirely possible. I’ll check that out tomorrow and see if that does it. THANKS!!!
