Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Random thing I just found while cleaning the AP5, if you put a 9mm and the MP5-N thread protector in an ergogrip grip plug it fits the MP5 finger groove grip housing PERFECTLY And is super tight. (The thread protector is just to make the rubber gasket wide enough for the grip hole A wood dowel...

AP5 UPDATE: 200 rounds of SAR 124gr between three different shooters, both bag rested (20 rounds) and standing magdumps with MKE mags and KCI Gen2 korean mags.IIt's now at 280 rounds total of three brands of 9mm. Ejection was consistently at 2-3 o'clock and 10-13 feet (I paced it off lol) Zero...

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Just got 1000 rounds of 124gr in to test the new AP5 Also, HK Web shop has SP5 mags for $64 free shipping and you get a free AR mag pouch if you buy 3+ So I snagged three German mags for future testing.

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Thanks man, I'm very cautiously optimistic. There's 1k rounds of 124gr SAR on the way to me in the mail to stress test it before I commit to a tax stamp. And I feel you, I'm near sighted as a church mouse lol, thank god for diopter sights!

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Well, I fed 80 rounds total of American Eagle and Aguila 124gr through it today. Money-into-noise speed with a full mag from each after a few slow fire. Ejection was solid on every round and it seemed to have no hang-ups anywhere. Accuracy is TBD but I shot five rounds at 50yds resting on my...

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Sorry for the necro post, but, I JUST got the replacement AP5 from Century. I'll make a range trip post today after I test it. Got a box of Aguila and a box of Federal (both 124gr)

Update: after a few more emails they have agreed to replace the AP5. I sent the old one off today, I'll post an update when the new one arrives.

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

When I called them a month ago (after getting it back from them ""servicing"" it and it promptly jamming at the range) the lady said "well that's unfortunate, but we try to fix them before replacing them" and she transferred me to their (only) service technician with a phone extension, a guy...

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Century just finally replied to my emails and voice-mails (a month later??) And basically said "it worked when we fired one mag through it"

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Update: jammed first mag, same exact problem. Some rounds eject strong and high to the 2-3 o'clock, some dribble out, some stovepipe. Interestingly, if you limp wrist it without shouldering the brace, it gets MUCH better. Like 80's under the armpit action hero style. Ejection improves...

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Update: Century is shipping it back to me today, they claimed there's no abnormal wear on the gun, they replaced the extractor and spring, and "reprofiled" (did not even replace) the ejector lever. I'm already not happy about this, the bolt was clearly dragging on the trunnion and had wear on...

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Update, I've shipped the AP5 back to century under a warranty service ticket, they just got me a prepaid shipping label the 9th through FedEx. We'll see how long it takes to be looked at, and what they do to resolve the issues it has.

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Century finally picked up the phone this afternoon and decided it's best I just send the gun in for service. Just waiting for a return shipping label.

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Well, I'm waiting on Century to respond to my voice-mail (they're not answering the phone), or my email I sent them last week. In the meantime is there anything non-permanent I can try to get this thing running? I heard something about shimming the front of the trigger pack to raise the ejector.

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Update on the AP5. I'm now having regular malfunctions with this gun. Once every mag or every other mag it will fail to eject and leave a case in the action. It's extracting fine, it's stripping a fresh round fine, but it chambers the fresh round and closes the empty case between the carrier...

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Took it back out today and it ran much better. I think my ussues were purely ammo and break-in period. 115gr Barry's loaded over 4.9gr of titegroup was a reliable combo. 124gr SAR 9mm was also really good. That stuff has some punch, I think it's hotter than the white box stuff Winchester sells...

Family firearms had them, they drop the price to $1070 every time they come back in stock. I have the qualifications! Lol

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

This was the end of the range trip, malfunctions had become a cardio workout they happened so frequently, and I was out of good ammunition. I was also havingto completely break position and remove the magazine to clear each malfunction. The 100yd groups were shot having to lift the gun off...

Century import AP5 package from MKE (The good, the mostly bad)

Accuracy testing started off rough at 25yds. Not surprising given my goofy bag setup to clear the 30 round mags (I have a 20 in the mail.) I didn't want to monopod off the magazine because at this point I was getting a serious malfunction every 15-20 rounds and was afraid of making it worse...
