Sooooo....has anyone else ever tried to scratch their MP5 itch with an MPX? Well I did way back when they popped up. I liked that it was SMG/MP5ish and had AR controls and ergos. Being honest the M16 was what my muscle memory was and what I trained with the most. Now this is not a song of praise for the MPX....actually it is a venting / b!tch session, trying to understand better why SIG let this gun flop. When I bought in I was carrying a SIG P226 SIG .357, I know a little about the P series and calibers as I was a SIG armorer for my previous agency.

My b!tch starts with:
1. WTF SIG??
2. This is how they hooked me
2A. Caliber conversions(want that .357bbl damm!t!!)
2B. Barrel lengths available for swap
2C. Handguards to accomadate bbl
2D. Interchangeable FCG with AR parts
which I was also an armor of and I
could work on the FCGs
2E. AR15 ergos and controls to operate
3. Magazine prices....REALLY??
4. Magazine generational problems

I guess through my venting I am asking why did this gun flop, why did SIG just walk away for the most part. Its like SIG watched Bushmaster with the ACR🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
--On a side note I did see where Bushmaster was bought by the folks at Franklin Armory (BFS trigger guys). They are teasing the ACR is coming back. Maybe some support, parts etc etc 😬🤷🏻‍♂️

Does anyone have the skinny on SIGs thinking on the MPX?? Did the MCX just sh!t all over it??

Also, if its about profit I would like to know how they didnt long term project this and realize by not cranking out the features then they are the ones that affected the profit!!

I thought the army chose to go into contract for the MPX… did that not go through?

Ya know now that you mention it I think I remember them tossing it around for armor and air crews IIRC. USAF just adopted an updated GAU for aircrews, the GAU-5A.

Maybe got scrapped🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
Personally I would rather a short MCX (5.56) as a crewmen's weapon.

I get excited for anything the military adopts because that typically means good parts availability.
