I have a question about an unusual HK-style 3-point sling that I haven’t been able to identify.
I have several older green 3-point slings for comparison. Most examples I’ve found online have the familiar double-eye fitting with the diagonal bar oriented in one direction.
However, I have two slings where the double-eye fitting is essentially a mirror image of the usual version. What makes this more interesting is that the hook also appears to be oriented opposite to the normal sling, while the webbing and sewn construction appear to be assembled in the same general way.
One of these slings has older cotton-type green webbing, while the other appears to use a later synthetic-type webbing. So this does not seem to be limited to a single sling.
I also have a normal older example for comparison, with the usual double-eye orientation and the three black identification marks on the webbing.
I vaguely remember trying to install one of the mirrored versions many years ago in the same way as the normal HK 3-point sling, and it did not seem to work correctly.
I’ve searched through photos of HK, German surplus, police, contract-production and reproduction slings, but so far I have not found another clear example with this mirrored double-eye and hook arrangement.
Does anyone recognize this version?
Could it be intended for a different weapon, a particular military or police contract, a licensed-production country, or possibly an older commercial/reproduction sling?
I’ll include detailed photos of both versions and the hardware side by side.
Any information, especially period photos, HK documentation, part numbers, or examples of another sling with the same mirrored hardware, would be greatly appreciated.
