Purchased this vintage AR15 rifle back in 1988 to keep my other AR15's company.
Seldom if hardly used, back of the safe it went. It became an "old" Safe Queen rifle over the years.
Kept in minty condition .223 snake cleaned, property lubricated, muzzle capped in dust free safe.
Periodically checked and maintained during my "Man Cave Years" of "ooohing & aaahing" pistol/rifle handling sessions.
Comes with two magazines, a 20 rd & 30 rd, Original Manual (1979) sling, Colt patch, new Ederar carrying bag.

20 rd very good condition magazines, Circa 1963-1968 magazines. (Markings: CAL. .223)
30 rd very good condition magazines, Circa 1963-1968 magazines. (Markings: CAL. 5.56 MM)
Markings: Left side of receiver marked “COLT AR-15 CAL. .223 MODEL SP1 SER. SP 65288 with the Rampant Colt logo.
Marked on left side receiver behind bolt catch “COLT’S PATENT FIREARMS HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A. MFG. CO and
Marked with safe and fire.
It has the early style upper receiver and the correct early Colt "triangle" proof mark on the upper receiver.
The finish is original and in very good condition with only minor surface scuffing near rear sight.
The lower receiver has the Colt four line markings with the digit serial number, Serial Number SER. SP 65288.
It is fitted with the early original parts and proof mark between the front sight post rings on the right side.
The bolt has the version that is etched MPC markings, flat headed firing pin and spilt cotter pin. Rifle retains its original internal parts.
The buffer is a two-piece 'Edgewater' recoil buffer assembly. It is also fitted with its original slimmer black plastic pistol grip, early triangular handguards ( "R" and "L" on the inner aluminum shields.)
It also has the rubber coated front swinging sling swivel, rear sling swivel, not coated, no moving swivel.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Excellent 1976 production Curio & Relic Pre-Ban Colt AR-15 SP1 Semi-Automatic Rifle Overall Condition,
this rifle retains about 95-98% of original finish. The markings are clear. Furniture is all in very good condition.
Rifle rates are about very good to fine condition. This SP1 is not only a very early run of the iconic SP1 rifle,
it’s also in very good condition having been properly maintained and cared for over the past 38 years of its lifetime with me.
This AR-15 SP1 qualifies as a Curio & Relic per ATF rules.
