Im sorta coming to the realization that Im never getting a genuine 416 upper.

And a complete Brownel’s clone Im unsure of availability.

So if you were looking for a quality 10.5” piston driven upper, and HK & Brownel’s are ruled out - which would y’all suggest?

I still think I'd buy this and have it cut down

Good suggestion.

That barrel is so heavy tho. Would cutting it down make a huge difference?

Or could I easily swap in a Brownel’s 10.5” 416 clone barrel?

What are my handguard options?
 
Sig 516 10.5 if you can find one.

Lineage with HK 416 designers, who moved on from HK to Sig to Caracal.

A Caracal 816 10.5 (unobtainium) would be nice too. Pre Haenel design.

As others above posted, an MR556 upper cut down to 10.5 would work. Shame about prices, these used to be $1500 just a few years back.

You could even pick up a complete Haenel 10.5 pistol for about $2300 at Bereli. That, $200 tax quick form 1 and a B5 SOPMOD would make a pretty nice gun for about $2600 all in.

That CB date code will have the lighter profile barrel. But if you are ultimately gonna wait for Marvin's barrel, grab an upper from Brownell's and back order their 416 complete BCG for $300

Any 416 rail will fit. Geissele. Maxim Defense, HK Quad

Good suggestions. Yes I think modifying a MR upper would be nice. Considering it has HK markings and I’d be putting this upper on my MR lower when used.

Looks like they have one in stock right now.

So MR556 complete upper + that hand guard I like + having barrel cut down = what I was looking for.

Im unfamiliar with Nefarious.

To my (limited) knowledge my options were a Brownell’s 416 clone barrel (of which I cant find on their website) or a genuine 416 barrel (if they’re cross compatible with MR556). Or as suggested here cutting down a MR barrel.

How is the Nafarious quality? I take it they make HK 416 clone barrels also?

I just don't see Marvin shipping these things anytime soon. And if you aren't already on the list ...................... well. The other option is a Hurricane Butterfly barrel. Before they closed the retail area of their website - they still had some. Might be worth reaching out to them to see if they have any left. They are chrome lined and were $500 for 10.4".
 
Nefarious has a complete upper that has a 9” barrel. Shorter than I’d like but with a can, wouldn’t that in theory sorta simulate a longer barrel?

And would that 9” barrel even work with the 9” HK slimline handguard? Assuming Im trying to mount a can to the flash hider.

MR556 uppers are in stock at MGW.
