So I know im a little late to the party but from what i can find out, these were originally used by the Italian government and then imported over here for sale? Why? Is there anything unique or special beyond the horrible rollmark on the slide?

Not really, just different markings. I had one but sold it and yes the terrible import mark was why i sold it

AMCHAR imported an unknown quantity of these. :)
The highest and lowest numbers that I have seen are 27-065369 through 27-065581. ;)
Can anyone discern the proof mark to the left of the "04" on the left slide?

Tony

Well since i've had no luck with my WTB add, seems this has piqued my interest. Need to find a very nice one of these.

Interesting to see a spurred hammer on a compact. Most I've seen have a bobbed hammer

Hi,
The compacts are excellent pistols, I have one in 9mm and had to put in a spurred hammer and a left handed safety but easily done!

Now waiting for a HK45C mag release and will be set up for me anyway!lhhk-jpg.928728.jpg

Hi,
Yes, I put one in my Sister's P2000SK and was so much easier to change Mags!
