I just bought an almost new P8A1 ( fired one mag). It has a polygonal vs lands/grove barrel. It has HKI Columbus GA stamped above the serial number on the bottom of the slide. Every p8a1 I have seen for sale has a lands/ grove barrel. Anyone have an idea of how it got here. I got it at the same gun-shop by am as original owner.

Does the serial number on the barrel match the frame?

Again--- welcome to the site. :)
Should be lands and grooves--- how did you determine polygonal?

Clear as day if you look inside. Also in Europe , for civilian market I have read that they are polygonal for the A1.

Tony, I’m smacking myself on the forehead right now. I’ll call them and ask. Stay tuned next week.

I just got off the phone with HK USA. They said that they do not sell tha P8A1 with the polygonal barrel in the USA. Mine is marked HKI Ga so they say it’s thier and it’s under warranty. They think it may have been a mistake in a shipment from HK Germany. They told me to call back in 30 days when they get thier next shipment and they will order a new barrel for it. I said I really wanted to keep the polygonal. I was told I could keep it as well. Went by the gun store where it was bought and asked to see another to check its barrel, but they had sold it.
What is something like this worth? Any thoughts?
