One big problem with licensing of any kind is that the customer tends to forget caveat emptor. I've seen that over and over in contracting - people assume a contractor's license means the guy is competent and honest.
I was sorry to see all this blow up as it did. Ed's a nice guy, but that...
Falfiles is alive and well.
I don't know what happened to Militaryfirearm, but things had really slowed down there and I had the impression that Chris wasn't engaged in running it any more. I think the hosting contract simply lapsed and "poof".
In your original picture, the grip is one of mine (sold through RTG) and the shortened surplus HG is done like one of mine (shortened at the front) but the wood is then smoothed down to meet the cap, which normally I don't do as it makes finish matching more difficult. Stock is most likely...
That is going to be me. Two shots late 2020/early 2021 plus a booster last December. No problems at all. My blood pressure is lower than 2 years ago, but that is likely due to leaving my high stress job and going back to the low pay, low stress one I did up until 2015.
Between those two jobs...
Its not a reflection on you so much as the leopards. SG said the thread would not be deleted in the bit you copied in your post. I only replied to your post because it is now the only evidence that the management over there changed their position.
Funny how some places have a knack for...
Correction. Tony's post that he linked to is now gone.
I clicked the link and it took me to the TEXAS forum on HKP. Looking at Tony's profile page there is no indication that his final post exists.
I'm not a follower of all the drama over there, but it looks like leopards and spots to me.
These both are 93 length now. Steel caps repainted with rustoleum high temp paint.
The one on top in the following picture is just a hair long, pin still fits with some persuasion. Last two pics show close ups of the pin holes on a surplus 33 frontend.
Say $225 for the top one, the other...
G3 wood handguards are rarer than hens teeth, they run around $100 or more whenever I see them for sale. I usually charge $150 on top of that to shorten them for 93 and mp5 length, so that's about the sticker shock you're looking at.
I have one with a plastic foregrip that is 93 length. Not...
Heheh.... I don't have an MP5 :D
My sizing jig is a surplus G3 trunion welded to a steel rod. Used commercial handguards to set the hanger locations for all three lengths, 91, 93, MP5.
Any trouble at all and you can return it for a refund.
