Its an original surplus stock, but yeah its been cut down. Its not an aftermarket sporter stock. Its not a K98 though. Its not a 98 period. Its a 1893 or 1895 small ring action.

From what I can see....I'm leaning towards Spanish 1916 Small ring, slightly updated 1893 type mauser. Probably 7mm , but some were converted to .308 (or even 8mm)

Is it solid or the wrap-around type shelf? Hard to tell from pics. The wrap around type is pretty easy to figure out the paddle for....

I use the rustoleum appliance epoxy, if applied in a certain way, it comes out pretty good. About as good as a $5 rattle can finish goes. Moly Resin is another alternative to look into. The have a few "Greyish Blacks" IIRC
