I have been looking at the US made UMP mags on HKparts.net . These are the gen 2 version. I see a lot of mixed reviews on the gen 1 mags but not the gen 2. Does anyone have experience with them?

In case anyone is wondering the HK parts Gen 2 mags feed just fine. The have metal re enforced feed lips.

How do you tell Gen 1 from Gen 2? I’ve had poor luck with mine and they now reside in the box of misfit toys.

Mine have metal feed lips, and I can’t seem to get them to work reliably in my SBR UMP (using an original USC cutdown barrel with both top & bottom feed ramps).

The easiest way to distinguish gen 1 from gen 2 is to load the mag with rounds. If the rounds spew out of the plastic feedlips at the top of the mag like a geyser then you have a gen 1. If the rounds stay in place, but the mag causes jams and misfeeds and frustration, then it's a gen 2.

Honestly, I appreciate when people make US copies of HK products, but when they are poorly made, it's just disappointing. The mags you have in your misfit parts bin, I recommend dumping on GB.

So do mine
and they seem to be steel lips but plastic followers and a bitch to load the 1st round.

Yep and I was just being the "Official BOARD @SS"
Plus I can not recommend or use ANYTHING OTHER than German Mags in my HK's, Sorry

I buy most of my Parts from HKParts.net, but you now do have to watch what everyone is selling.

I've started ordering more and more from MGW https://www.midwestgunworks.com/hk-ump/parts.html I find that their prices are better, shipping is cheaper, and they get out of stock items back into stock quicker than HKParts. Also, parts I order from HKParts come in generic baggies. Given that company's history, sometimes this worries me. With MGW, the vast majority of items I order (including spare barrels) arrive in the OEM HK sealed back - even tiny springs and tiny roll pins.

Anyone know if the LWRC mags are the same as the US made mags that HKparts.net. These have the steel reinforced feed lips. In case you are unaware the LWRCI SMG45 uses the UMP mags.

Shhhhhhh now everyone will be going there not that its was a big secret just a lot less visited,. Well now that its out there I will second what you said for the same reasons. BTW another reason is that Adam is out and back at the helm with his BS so add that to the list too.
