Picked up this lightly used USP45 a couple of hours ago. I believe it's a California model by the two (2) 10-round mags included.

I'm bringing one in with my latest soon to arrive batch of imports. It's for me, not resale.

I've read that this is the only factory .45 pistol other than the Mk23 that you can safely shoot .45 Super through without modifications due to it's awesome recoil system. I had an unfulfilled flirtation with the .45 Super 30 years ago, I couldn't afford a Super built 1911.
.45 Super = 230gr/1100fps, (up from 850 FPS .45 ACP) 200gr/1200fps, 185gr/1300fps. You can see the attraction.

I'll probably be setting it up as a DAO, same as I intend to do with my 9mm USP Compact. My EDC is a Glock for 18 years now, when I got the USP9-C I thought I could regain comfort with the thumb safety, which turned out not to be completely correct, but what I disliked even more was the different trigger pulls on the first round and then subsequent. Never liked DA/SA guns. I just really really want the same thing to happen every time I pull the trigger. "Consistency". Thank God the USP can be set up 7 ways from Sunday to allow this.

The USP-C .45 DOES NOT have the same recoil system and should NOT have .45 Super run through it. If you were going to carry a USP .45 in bear country as your sidearm, 230gr FMJ would probably be the right choice to get necessary penetration on a mammal much thicker than a human. Some humans anyway. I'd need to try out the 185gr Super (+P+) along side the Standard ACP 185gr (+P) to see if it would be worth having the extra recoil for "other than bear".

All just my .02 cents, YMMV.
