Got a CA dated HK45 that hates me. 900 rounds since I picked it up in March and still can't make it work. End up holding the decocker down about 30% of draws so I was thinking a version 9 plate. But I also end up flipping the safety on during about 20% of mag changes so may have to go LEM. Must be the shape and size of the HK45 I don't have an issue with my P30 or USP. Side note for no more holster time it has, it developed a "distressed" finish look real quick.IMG_4843.jpg

Find a soft, cloth-lined holster--- something similar to this (with or without the extra magazine pouch): ;)

Tony,

Not concerned about looks. Finish does seem to have penetrated into the metal as even the shiny areas are not showing any rust (yet). Just interesting how it shows more wear than my older more used HK's made in Germany.

They don't make 'em like they used to. ;)

I'd go LEM. From a performance standpoint, the safety lever position and angle are not at all ergonomic on the HK45 or P30. When flipped to fire, the lever is too low and impedes a high and aggressive support hand grip. Compromising support hand grip is a large part of the problem since it creates room for the gun to move more in your hands.

Here's an example of my grip with my LEM. Not 100% my firing grip due to the picture angle, but close to it. The meat of the base of my support thumb is basically right on top of the area where the safety lever sits in the fire position. The web of my gun hand thumb rests right on top of the area where the base of the safety would be. With the safety lever, I would guess it forces both hands anywhere from 0.5-1.0" lower on the grip, which would make a noticeable difference in recoil control and consistency of follow through IMO.

Waiting on a VER 9 plate I'll give that a try first. Location and angle of control lever on the HK45 and P30 is not near as annoying as the USP's.

I love LEM - If I can't get a V7 factory version on my pistols I'll get a conversion kit (although nowadays they are probably tough to come by) - with V7 you need the lighter springs to make it "Light LEM" but if you buy a factory V1 you need the conversion kit so its six of one and half dozen of the other -

P30L V4.1CH LEM
HK45 Light LEM
HK45C Light LEM

Is my current LEM variety in the safe

I have been looking for an HK with an LEM trigger at one of the ranges that I can rent. Absolutely no one has for as a rental. I would like to try one out to see if I like it. I guess I’ll just stay with DA/SA for now.

I hope you figure out your HK45. I love mine, dare I say more than my USP.

I changed it over to Variant 9. I'll try that for a bit and see it I can get it to work. But did get a HK45C Variant 3 and have had none of the issues with it. I believe is heads and tails above the HK45 in fit and function for me any way.

I don't have this issue with either of my HK45 pistols but I certainly wouldn't be shy of the LEM trigger in that gun. I have two HK45s and one of them is the "TGS" LEM and it is probably my favorite HK pistol to shoot. YMMV

I went to V9 on a USP Compact 9mm to dump the de-cock feature since I don't use it, at same time a spur hammer was installed , works very well. Side note: V9 on the USP/USP Compact also dumps the 1/2 cock feature of the hammer, non issue for me.

Hope the V9 on your HK45 works out for you.

I've shot them all, and had most[and sold]. I still don't believe there's been an upgrade to the USP. Other than my P9 obsession, the only HK pistols I shoot and won't sell....will be USP models.
