Interesting offering. I knew the barrels were hard to find but didn't think they were going for 3500.

What ever became of the efforts to make the receivers and barrels domestically?

Lots of kits out there...

  • It is estimated that less than 5,000 of these rifles were made & even fewer were imported into the US in the 1980’s
  • The PE57 features a roller delayed blowback operating system
  • As with all Swiss rifles, marksmanship is of the highest priority
  • It has a 24 inch round barrel
  • The diopter sights fold down for transport
  • It’s straight-line stock necessitates a very high front & rear sight
  • It has a post style front sight
  • The rear sight can be calibrated for use from 100-640 meters
  • It has a vented metal handguard
  • The bipod folds for transport & storage
  • A carry handle is positioned just in front of the receiver for optimal balance
  • It features a winter flip down trigger for use with heavy gloves or mittens

The SIG PE57 is actually a post-89, SIGARMS INC. (Herndon, VA.) import, made to look like a pre-89. :unsure:
The pre-89 will be a SIGARMS, INC. (Tyson's Corner, VA.) import. :)
Basically, the same rifle, but with a collector/value difference. ;)

What difference in markings other than the importer for the Pre-89?
