The engine from the only car in the ALMS LMP900 days that could hold a candle to the Audi R8. Basically an all-aluminum, fuel injected Ford 302 Boss Trans Am engine punched out to 6 liters/366 cubic inches.

Panoz may've relied on old school technology in a front-mid engine car to battle Audi back then, but occasionally it worked.

A few years ago, I had a '59 Mercedes 4-door pontoon sedan. White. Outwardly cute & normal, we called him Magoo.

It was built over Cal, dunno by who. Saw it in Mesa, AZ with a for sale sign in the window.

The 351 Windsor, Holley 650 & blower, with a high-stall Art Carr box made it a LOT of fun to drive.

I never did the quarter, just flopped a lot of egg on some faces around town.

It had a really goofy, multi-u-joint hookup in the steering, and it broke with my wife driving it.

It jumped a curb and she got it stopped in a parking lot, no damage. She would never drive him after that.

Sold to a flat tracker in Texas. Bye, Magoo.
