I have a trustworthy friend who is having fabricated, by a professional machinist, the bulb receptacle to work with the 338 T1 3/4 bottom-flanged mini bulbs.
This is for the original (long) Hensodlt illuminator for the Hensoldt 4x24 scopes (Model 2 and Model 3, the latter being the Z24).
The bulb receptacle will be made of brass, and look just like the original.
The 338 (2.7v) bulb is larger than the 327 (28v) and 328 (6v) bulbs, and will need the larger receptacle.
The 338 bulb, paired with a Lithium AA (3v) battery, should be a great combination.
I am awaiting testing, quantity, and pricing, followed by pictures, and will keep everyone updated.

Differences between 327/328 bulb and 338 bulb (and receptacles)--- left to right.

Placement fit and brightness--- seems much brighter than factory, and longevity should be longer with the combination.
