I've run out of safe space. Anybody have any thoughts on hardening a walk in closet for example? Seems like it may be cheaper than buying a bunch of $1300 safes that at the end of the day, will never hold as much as they advertise.

Right on. Check out some of the product videos on them. I was surprised how they save considerable space and eliminate safe rash. Those padded cases may not be as necessary as just using the rifle rods and say a sock. Regarding your direct question. I think you will have issues lining a drywall room to the extent that someone couldn't just bust through the wall. If you wanted a vault - look for bank buildings no longer being used as banks. They will give you the vault door and frame if you pay to have it removed. Still about a 10k proposition but no one is getting though that door once installed.

You can get vault doors for about $3500 with frame. room hardening is up to you.You could line a closet with 10ga steel from the inside and that would make getting in a long enough process that you or the alarm company could get there.

Use a hidden door like something made by madera. Harden the closet as your like. Way cheaper just my .02

This gentleman passed a few years ago but had a pretty substantial room. His buddy was in steel business. Its concrete and steel on all sides top and bottom with bank vault door.

Incredible. :)

Looks like I am gonna buy a reinforced steel door and line the interior walls with flattened expanded steel sheets. It won't be fireproof and it will just deter the smash and grab break in, but between the alarm system and a Burglar Bomb, I think I'm ok with that.

Thanks everyone for the input and the PM's.
