This is one for those who love pictures and such--Japanese magazine Monthly Gun Professionals near month's end will release their Feb. 2025 issue with a deep dive into the HK433. Mag is in Japanese only, but will have detailed photos.
Back on the 433, after teasing it for a couple of weeks, Monthly Gun Professionals magazine has released some preview images and such of their Feb. 2025 issue. Only one shown of the HK433 so far is of a FDE 11" barreled version. Maybe of small note is that the rear sight is mounted backwards (they are EraTac BUIS, not HK's own). Mag and article are in Japanese but at this stage when it comes to 433 info (and info and photos and diagrams and such about other things) I'll take what I can get (though it's still frustrating the lack of English language info and coverage of the 433 to date, though only about 20-30 of them being in Ukraine and probably the only examples outside of Germany doesn't help):
I did get my copy of Monthly Gun Professionals magazine with the HK433 as a feature story. Sadly, not much new, given that we've gotten video and photos from Ukraine of the 433 disassembled. However, it's worth noting that the dual ejectors on the Ukrainian 433s seems to be a recent change, given that the Gun Professionals 433 that was disassembled had a single ejector bolt. Of course, the 433s out of Ukraine that have been shown do have the serial numbers obscured in their photos and videos.
It seems that since the photo originated from the island of Jersey in UK and has a SF trigger group, it may be a police carbine or is being evaluated as one.
Also borrowing from a post elsewhere that gives a rundown on what was talked about in a video previously posted from Ukraine:
"Rewatched the ORKOV.net (Ukranian) video with subtitles.
Main takeaways (which is just the impression of the two guys):
The first thing they talk about is the stock latch and how they don't worry about closing the stock without using the button. They seem to indicate that some stock latched broke (I think BREN) and indicated it is not advised to close the stock on the SCAR without pushing the button first. Overall the 433, stock latch just feel more robust. But, then at the end of the video they state, you probably still shouldn't close the stock without using the button. In an emergency situation, just close it, but for non-emergencies, use the button.
433 is more complex than the the SCAR/BREN, but those complexities seem to make some things more convenient than the SCAR/BREN. For example, gas regulator/piston removal, charging handle switching, rail removal, pistol grip changes, etc are all more convenient on the 433.
They seem to indicate the recoil is more pleasant on the 433, specifically compared to the SCAR. But, they add that the SCAR with its heavy BCG has been very reliable for the soldiers using them.
They seem to discuss the "double-edged" nature of some of the features, I think indicating that while the folded-non-reciprocating charging handle is convenient, one aspect of the SCAR/BREN is the "tactile feel" of them. That is, having the CH's always erect and therefore accessible rather than having the pull-turn-push method to leave the CH erect on the 433. Along with previous point, it seems like they were trying to indicate that RCH on the SCAR while it may bite you, the "Belgian girl" doesn't let them down(?)
Apparently the BREN gets hot. I guess the 433 and SCAR don't or at least as fast/much.
They end with the there are not high enough round counts on the 433's to give preference over the SCAR, which both the L & H having been available for a while. Again they talk about the reliability of the SCAR, but overall seem to very like the 433. At some point when there is more time on the 433, they will "sit with the German girl and Belgian girl" and talk about them again. Then they seem to mention, "the Czech girl is 100% third place" when comparing the "SCAR-likes", as they call them. But, they say the BREN is very cheap and would therefore make a good replacement infantry weapon (for AK's and such).
They think the 433 is very elegant. It feels more refined, they don't have to worry about SCAR-bite, or the stock latch breaking, etc. The main guy said specifically "виглядає мощна SCAR" or "looks like a (more) powerful SCAR", or something along those lines."
New post on the Jersey HK433s. They were just adopted as the new Jersey (UK) police patrol carbine. The finalist were the 433, HK416A5, and LMT MARS 5.56mm. They were all set up for semi-auto only use (S/F trigger groups) and had 11" approx barrels.
From what I was told, the picture previous posted is probably the configuration chose (11" barrel with paddle mag release lower). Trials pic:
