I had a customer give me his brand new Stacatto 9mm 2011 to have a custom RMR plate made/installed plus he wanted some slide serrations as well.....I have to admit I don’t want to give it back.....oh and I made the entire plate on my manual Bridgeport!!

I’ll be doing the final test fit of the gun and then a test fire this evening....I’m extremely happy with how it’s turned out and the customer is ready to have it back.....so I gotta give it back tho?

I was using some “Kentucky elevation” but the windage was dead nuts with the slot I cut in the plate. The larger group was a speed test at 10 yards just tracking the dot.

Need to cut down the top of the rear sight then see where it shoots so I can run the numbers to get the proper height front sights. The customer is beyond happy with it at this point. This entire process has been trial and error. No blueprints at all.

You might have to come up with the front sight, no? Based on that last pic it looks like the fiber is lower than the RMR's deck.

I knew I was going to need a taller front fiber but I needed to see where it was shooting so I could calculate out how much taller I needed to order.

The width of the RMR is 1.108” wide and the slide is .975” side so yes it hangs over some.

What I’m most happy with is I did all of it on my manual Bridgeport mill. No cnc was needed. Even the serrations on the back of the rear sight were done by hand on the mill.

Makes sense! I thought it was the angle!
none-the less… still awesome work!

It looks great.

How nervous were you making that first cut into the slide?

Super nice pistol. Very nice work!
I ordered one last year, and left it for my FFL to sell in his store. I'm just not a 1911 guy. I've done that with several higher-end 1911's. I think I'm finally over buying stuff I know I'm not gonna enjoy. Same goes for striker pistols.

I lowered the height of the rear sight and took it out this morning.....it now shoots right where the customer wants it! That thing is deadly.

Correct. I wanted to see how well it would hold up. The first one I painted that way didn’t go well but I tried something different on the last one and it has been holding up pretty well.
