Galaxy Quest. What a fun and well produced movie. The cast is stellar.....and it even makes my wife smile. [tough-cookie] There are so many scenes that make me laugh, thru the whole movie. It's just terrific entertainment, without all the vulgar and terrible stuff required to entertain people today. I'm so shocked there wasn't a sequel. Make no mistake, I love most all the other stuff/genres, too.....but I just love that movie. It should have been so much more popular.

There are a lot of parts that make me laugh out loud. I caught a little of it today too. I kind of dig Sigourney Weaver in this one.
 
The fake-boobs and long blonde hair, looked good on her. Did you watch that documentary I posted? Very good, and interesting how that movie evolved into the great thing it was. It was good that the earliest parts didn't happen.

She was 50, when she filmed GQ,

The Gentleman is good., but I won't remember it in six months. Some movies really "stick" with ya. I seem to like DePalma and Mann movies. Those guys are really into color.

Probably the movie that really "stuck" the most for me.....

It's an incredibly well done, comedic, and serious Star-Trek type movie. Great story and very funny, as well. All-star cast. It also has a huge cult following. The Next-Generation cast love it. Watch the documentary I posted.

Same here. Dune is a difficult story to put into film because its such a inticate story line. I've read the series multiple times and I always pick up something I didn't catch during the previous reading.

SYFY Channel did a short series a few years back "Dune" and "Children of Dune" that I thought not too badly done for a TV series.

The 1984 David Lynch version was ok and has developed a cult following, but it missed alot....and even more damning.....added elements that were not in the book at all.

Timothée Chalamet will play Paul Atreides in the upcoming film.

He has another movie out currently on Netflix called "The King" which is a updated and darker version of Shakespeare's "Henry V" minus the Shakespearean talk. It's worth the watch and gives a glimpse of how he might play Paul Atreides.

LOL!! I'd say half of them have died already.
I'm not really a sci-fi guy, which is why GQ appeals to me, so much. I saw the first Star-Wars movie, the night it was released. I feel asleep at the second one, and haven't seen anything since. However, I did like the original Blade-Runner. It was dark, and who didn't like Rachael?

When MANHUNTER came out, we rented it from the "video store", pre Blockbuster mind you. Halfway through...my father turned to me and said, " Do you REALLY want to know what I do? "

I said I did.

We went out into the garage, he got a ladder and went up into the rafters. Brought down a brown cardboard box that said CITY OF NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT on the side. On the outside it said COTTINGHAM CASE - 1979. Mind you he's a NYC Homicide Detective and i'm around 16. Out of a glossy yellow box that had KODAK printed on it, were three dozen 8x10 glossy's of a serial killer's crime scene. I won't describe the photos here, but look up the Torso Murderer and you'll get some idea. Pretty grisly, in fact absolute depravity.

The former Green Beret and cop since '68 said to me if you ever wondered why I couldn't be your little league coach and I don't make all your school activities...this is why. A great FBI profiler or homicide detective must be 'almost' as twisted (read: fucked up) as those they are trying to HUNT. Most of us are barely 51 % GOOD. In order to catch them, you must be able to think like them and access a Very, Dark place.

I didn't know it then, but he was explaining WOLVES, SHEEP, and SHEEPDOGS before it was in vogue. So I went to college to be a Civil Engineer in ROTC. Dropped out when IRAQ invaded Kuwait, enlisted for 3 years in the INFANTRY and joined the family business from '94 - '14.

Go Figure.
 
Excellent story. I'm sure that was an eye-opener.....and the world is becoming darker, all the time.
I caught-on pretty early in life about the Wolves, Sheep, and SHEEPDOGS. I went from being bullied-daily in Jr. High[ spent two years with black-eyes, bloody/broken noses, split lips], to being a SHEEPDOG for those being bullied. Having been bullied intensively, I couldn't understand the sheep who watched and did nothing for those being bullied. I had a major growth-spurt, beat the shit outta my bully [ he spent a day in hospital and we almost got sued and charges]...and would physically fight for anybody who was being wrongly tormented by the wolves. I lost some of those fights, but felt so bad for the kids who didn't have the "pieces" to defend themselves....and truly hated those who preyed upon them for their sick pleasures.
