A friend of mine has both a 770 and SL6, He has/had a broken spindle bolt. We sourced some stainless ( 6) 8mm .125 bolts that use a 5mm hex and spun them down on my lathe. If we were going to make one, might as well make six....Then I turned down some round stock, center drilled and tapped to 8/125. parted and faced to the proper dimessions.
Cleaned and assembled the new shoulder pieces using Green loc-tite. They work perfect. As a note, if you use a little grease on the contact points of the top cover to the reciever, you will put WAY less stress on the retaining bolt.
We found the relief cut forward of the shoulder to be complelty unncessary. We decided to make them slightly larger in the head diameter (+ 0.015") to reduce the chnaces of breakage and still have a nice clearance fit. I put a little Brownells cold blue on the collars.
We test installed them in both a 770 and a SL6 without issue.
He wanted three and I have three left.. I don't own an HK rifle that uses such bolts.(not found in either my HK91 or HK93) So I'm going to offer them @ $40 each shipped CONUS
Cash, check or money order only.. no PAYPAL....Only *ONE per person please.
If its somehting more people would/might like, I might make some more. But took a month to get the old-ball bolts and they were not cheap.
