Man I had an M925A2, sold it to buy my son a truck. I am LE so I hunker down and stay when hurricanes hit. Used it during Harvey and made 50ish high water rescues. I miss it, but my grail is a Willys Jeep. Thanks for sharing.

Here she is at home while I was resting, about 4 days after the storm.

Lots of custom work in that gun....the ak5b is 100% correct and finally done, I had it re-engraved, installed the correct selectors, and corrected the color. It started life as the gun Babscontrol was building years ago on fnc talk. I shoulda posted pics of the other side . Both are real fun sear guns.

Yup it was expensive but it was an itch I had to scratch...At first I wanted to build a C like you pictured but those parts are even more rare and stupid expensive when you do find them.

Thanks for the compliment...maybe one day if you ever get to AZ we can put a few rounds down range 👍

Both of the selectors differ significantly from the fnc. Since the AK5 has no burst function and the left side has two arms that serve two purposes. First the upper arm serves as a travel limiter which stops on the lip of the upper, second it brackets the selector marking. The bottom arm off the selector also brackets the selector marking and it the same time serves as the engagement point for your thumb. The exception is when FA is selected as the A is at the bottom of the reciever so it appears ABOVE the the top arm as it is rotated into that position. The selector is a 3 positions short throw affair quite unlike what is found on the fnc. The right side selector lever is just a short and simple single arm lever that attaches to the axle via hex screw and washer with a cut in the axle to index the lever correctly. The right side selector markings are tucked quite close to the center of the selector hole so as it is turned the position that it selected is covered and NOT revealed as on the left side. I will post some pics soon of the selectors as they are moved through each position.

This arrangement is unique and engraving positioning was quite hard to dial in. Todd at TBA did this excellent work a well as the installation of the sear. He was also quite careful to dial in the paint color and sheen that I was looking for. As the light plays off of the reciever the sheen makes the color seem to change just as can be seen in the many many pics I researched on the original AK5 series and I am pleased with the result.

While we are on the topic of paint color, it's interesting to note that it changed slightly over the series and years of production as well as some other colors that were used for special applications and police models. So there is no one "correct" color. The paint sheen is both hard and an important chariteristic to match when doing a correct AK5 build.

Thank you very much--- though I do not have an "AK5" setup, I do have accessories:

1. Leather sling;
2. Brass catchers (1st Generation--- OD bag--- and 2nd Generation--- Belgian camo bag);
3. 1.5x and 3x (AK4) trials scopes.

Here is a good video on it at a maint facility.

Super neat that you have this stuff....I have the first 2 accessories in your list but not a scope. I do however have a the following items:

  • C stock
  • Correct Aimpoint CS
  • Cover for the CS
  • Full issue maint / cleaning kit with pouch
  • Quite a few issued spare parts not counting my FNC stuff

I shoulda bought the one a couple years ago that I ran across but didn't 😒

Here are they pics I promised. Sorry the first 3 images are upside-down.

Notice how the color seems to change hue and deepness due to lighting and flash. The highlights match in color and the color gets deeper with shadow and angle.
The difference in the pics here is a bit of a trick of light and oil. In even ambient lighting it all looks the same as in my group pic above in my previous post.
