We know he was right.
And the purposed programmed laughter was to mock truth and demoralize a segment of society "they" ( who is they? ) wanted humiliated.
The Archie Bunket character was the beginning of the end of common sense and instinctual intelligence, which is the foundation of true autonomous individuals.
Demorilize and humiliate the gut drives of any man and you get fags - a weakened, dependent individual versus a self reliant one.
