FN today teased a new belt fed 7.62mm NATO machine gun that's due to be launched publicly on May 6th. Not much is known beyond it being a belt fed machine gun in 7.62x51mm NATO/.308 Winchester.

However, the launch does go along with plans I've been told about HK publicly launching the 416 A8 and HK433 in June,

MilMag's FB page has some patent images of the new MG, and basically indicate that it's side feeding (feed cover and tray are on the left side of the gun) and internally is similar to the Minimi/M249, but with a multi-lug bolt and a short stroke gas piston.

A Belgium company FN Herstal annouced that a new machine gun will be unvelied on 6th May 2011. We were able to find some drawings of the proposed (named FN Evolys?) weapon. MilMag #FNHerstal
