I took my brand new P30 to the range the day I picked it up from the FFL on Tuesday, 9/8. Thinking H&K would have lined the slide rail with some lubricant I went to the range to try my new P30. Well it turns out that there was very little lubricant on the slide rail. This caused me to get pelted with spent shells after each shot. I then thought I would have to send the pistol to H&K for service. I called H&K and started the process to return it for service. However I did have another conversation with an H&K employee prior to wrapping the P30 up and heading off to FedEx. He said I should lubricate the rail. He suggested Slip 2000 EWL CLP Gun Lube. I immediately ordered a bottle from Amazon, but anxious to see if I bought a lemon H&K pistol, I rubbed some Slide Glide on the rail and went to the local range. Well to my pleasant surprise the 50 ejected shells now went to my right side. What a relief to see that I did not buy a lemon P30. I do question H&K for not lubing the rails enough to avoid shells smacking a shooter in the face and chest. I will take a trip on Tuesday (the range is closed Mondays) and try the recommended Slip 2000 EWL CLP Gun Lube which I received from Amazon the following day and generously applied. I will say the H&K service people were extremely helpful, much more so than an USA firearm manufacturer that I've recently disappointingly dealt with.
