SP5/SP5K-PDW in RAL8000

Looks like 8000 comes in several variants, even on the RAL color charts. Some more yellow, others more brown.

I built a bush FAL rifle in a more-yellow 8000 and OD some years ago, blended well in the desert out here.

Some WW2 German tactical vehicles were done with 8000 as one color of a camo pattern.

I like OD guns, I'm sure most of you've seen mine in the members' firearms thread.

I've compared the RAL8000 SP5/MP5 A3 stock that I got a few months ago with the RAL furniture for my RAL G36 conversion and it is same color match. The RAL8000 fits in rather well here in the high desert motif here in Utah, and there are some advantages for handling something in RAL8000 versus a traditional black gun in the hot sun. As for baby poop comparison that everyone claims that RAL8000 is, that's it there...on the bottom.

They go to all this trouble and no welded rail? FAIL. Again.

As usual H&K is late to the game through no fault but their own. Their usual snails pace means there are other options for shoulder fired 9mm. Palmetto Armory has been selling a lot of their H&R DOE clone with reasonable priced magazines or 20 and 32 rd capacity. Carrying handle sights, true, but lots of mounting options. And the gun itself is cool as heck. The barrel is threaded. There's the Scorpion, with IA making super quiet integral suppressor units if you like, and again, reasonably priced mags. You can even spend the money for a Daniels Defense PDW at $1995 and be well under the price of what H&K wants, using those same easily available Scorpion mags. Two of these three have plenty of rail space, and two of the three offer the same control setup as the AR15/M4 series we are all familiar with.

Well, the wife gave me a break and allowed me to order one of the RAL8000 SP5s from Rooftop Defense. Can't beat the price right now; currently $500 off their list price, plus an additional $30.46 shaved off for recent purchases I had made through them. 3 remaining in inventory as of this posting...

THESE THINGS LOOK LIKE THEY WOULD GLOW IN THE FUCKING DARK!
I GUESS IT IS PROBABLY A GOOD COLLECTORS ITEM BUT IF IT NEEDS TO BE PRESSED INTO SOME KIND OF SERVICE IT'LL NEED TO BE RATTLE CANNED!
WHAT MILITARY IS FIELDING GUNS IN THIS YELLOW COLOR?

RAL8000 was a standardized German camo color as far back as the late 30's, seen on armor and other military gear.

Translated, the color description is Green-Brown. It does seem to vary widely nowadays from the samples I have, a lot more yellow.

The FAL below was done according to a RAL8000 color chip have from back in the 60s'

That looks incredible.

VERY STRANGE THE COLOR VARIATION. ONE WOULD THINK THE GERMANS WOULD BE MORE TECHNICALLY EXACT THAN THAT.
GERMANY HAS BEEN GOING DOWN HILL. MAYBE SOME MIGRANTS MIXING THE COLORS.
