Test firing a UMP in 40 S&W

It’s been awhile since I’ve messed with a UMP. Was working on one for a fellow SOT and we went out to test it this evening. I liked it on semi and firing bursts it was good. When I got onto a heavy burst it sure did like to dance around and walk off target.

All in all it was still fun.

That sounds about right for a UMP in .40—once you get into longer bursts, they can get pretty lively. The recoil impulse is a bit snappier compared to 9mm, so it’s not surprising it started walking on you. Short, controlled bursts usually keep things much more manageable. Still, part of the charm is that raw feel. Glad to hear you had some fun with it—definitely a different experience compared to most other subguns out there.
