So I had to have a Expert .40 and after missing a couple of them on GB, I scored one on a trade.
It was in rough shape since the previous owner took a dremel to it because his hands were way too soft and the grip texture was too aggressive for his ‘Oil of Olay’ hands!
He realized he screwed up and put grip tape on it to hide his shame.
He sold it a friend of mine and I got it from him on a trade.
I figured no one would ever blame for anything I ever did on this abortion and it would all be an improvement.
So here are the before pics:

So my buddy @GuntherRommel saw the pics and laughed! 🤣
But we came up with some unique ideas that I may still do, but I had to fix the grips first.

I showed the pics to my buddy @Nzfly …. He laughed!!! :ROFLMAO:
But he did suggest that I send to Tom Bostic… who laughed!!! :ROFLMAO:
But Tom had me send it to him with no promises made!
Tom filled it back in but was not happy with it all. He sent to a friend in Nevada to see if he could do something on top of a fresh canvas.
This is the final results… I thought it came out amazingly well and I am way happier with it now versus what I originally had!

Let me know your thoughts or comments on this, and also on what I should do with slide…. In for a penny, in for a pound!!!!

That’s what I was thinking. I could never do that to a pristine HK, but on this one… no reservations at all.

Not a fan myself of stippleing....maybe a laser hatching / engraving job would have been a better choice, but I am playing arm chair quarterback here.

Tom is a stand up guy for taking a crack at it and going the extra mile to send it off for stippleing.

It looks worlds better than it did fo sho!

Congrats on the acquistion and restoration!

Oh we addressed it, but the damage was more severe that the pics showed.
After he re filled it he said it still didn't look right… the texture was not right, the shelf on the left was too much of pain in a** to put back and remark, so we decided on a solution that would take care of all the issues… stippling.

Im thinking of sending the frame out and maybe having it redone… stainless? FDE?
looking for ideas….
