Well you sir are going to love the B&T SPR300. I had no idea when I purchased it a few years ago that I would grow to love it as I have. I've owned 15 B&Ts and it is by far my favorite. If the M249S was not so easy to break by pulling back the bolt with the safety on I probably would still have it. I was just always so scared of accidentally breaking the darn thing that it took most of the fun away from shooting it. In the end I just figured that between all of that money just sitting there collecting dust most of the time and the fact that ammo may never be cheap or easy to get again... it was time to find mine a new home. I do miss seeing it on the wall though... damn that thing looked sexy... lol.
I'm anxious to get behind the SPR300. I'm a pretty big B&T fan as well. (love your optic choice by the way. I'm a major S&B junkie)
I've got a first gen MP9 Marked TP9 (with original metal brass catcher and threaded Barrel), Gen 1 APC9SD, Gen 1 GHM9, Gen 2 GHM9, KH9, APC9K Pro, USW, P26. May have a couple more but that's what's coming to me from memory in addition to my SPR300.
The prices on the M249's just spiked so quickly I couldn't see passing on what I got for it vs what I had investe. I've lost a very minimal amount of sleep as those funds allowed me to go ahead and start the process to get my 65 Corvette Convertible on the road without my wife getting mad at me. My son just turned 9, so it's time to make sure he has a proper appreciation for classic cars with gigantic fossil fuel chugging engines before they all disappear.
On a related note, do you have any full autos? Ultimately after buying my S&H sear and M16A2 it kind of took the appeal of the M249s away for me. Not much fun to have a belt fed that is semi and won't accept my sear or registered lower. The friend I bought them from warned me that it would take some of the fun out of collecting regular guns. I absolutely hate that he was right. I really can't think of many things short of more class III that I'm excited about buying even. I agree with you on the ammo prices. I've got ~ 5k rounds of factory linked 4:1 M855/856 ammo that I held on to. I'd love to sell it as it's bringing crazy money, but I fear I'd never be able to replace it and I'm still on the fence about picking up another beltfed that accepts one of my machine gun lowers.
