G3K Build?

I'm going to have a pile of mostly Portuguese parts built into a G3K clone. Only the receiver is PTR. Got an email reply from the barrel guy. Said he thinks he has one, will have to check today after work. Hoping he's willing to part with it.

Yes I'm going to SBR mine. A rifle that good looking deserves a proper meat-tenderizer attached to it.

Now I'm curious; just how many parts does PTR make in-house? I always thought PTR rifles were of 100% American parts.

Additional information: :)

- BATFE Ruling 2009-2 on “drop in” replacement parts in or on an existing, fully assembled firearm, without drilling, cutting, or machining, does not manufacture a firearm; a “replacement part”, whether factory original or otherwise (barrels, triggers, hammers, sears), has the same design, function, and substantially the same dimensions, and does not otherwise affect the manner in which a firearm expels a projectile (approved on 01-12-09)
- assembly from foreign-made rifle/parts kit (922(r) applicable, with a minimum U.S.-made parts count- AK47=6; G3=7; Galil=5; FAL=7; SIG 550=7; SL8=5; UZI=4)
- repair of any rifle assembled and imported prior to 11-30-90 (922(r) not applicable)
- SBR from an imported pistol (922(r) applicable)

PTR is not subject to 922r.

....

That PTR receiver was imported from Aynor, SC.

It counts as (1) 922r part. So long as he doesn't use too many parts from the FMP (Imported) kit he bought, he'll be fine.

Sounds like Receiver, FCG, and barrel so far.

I'm still not sure where you get "PTR is not subject to 922r" from. Did this company somehow achieve magical immunity from it?

So my US parts are as follows...

Muzzle thingy
Barrel
Trunion
Cocking Handle
Receiver
Trigger Box
Trigger
Sear
Magazine Base Plates

I can use a plastic US magazine (3 parts) but they're hideous looking IMHO

^ Looks awesome.

I wanted a G3K real bad, but didn't want to go with an SBR so did a 14.5" pin & weld that sorta looks like a G3K... but I know I'll eventually want a proper one.

So I was exchanging emails with the seller this morning. Was lamenting why he didn't use any of the electronic payment methods.
He used to.
Evidently some moron mentioned gun parts in a payment message. Paypal locked his account for six months...with $7500 in it!
Dont know about you but I'd be a tad pissed off.

yup! That happens. I got a warning once. I specifically told the person not to mention anything gun part related and they did it anyway 🙄

Just submitted my Form 1 application

They asked for a close-up picture of the serial number on the receiver.
That's new. I did an SBR about six months ago and didn't have to do that.

Yea, had issues on a eForm-2 to SBR my HK/SW32 last week.

Think they finally upgraded the Server from the old Commodore 64 to the "New and Improved" 80286 w/ 287 co-proc

They added Pull Down Menu options, which of course DO NOT Include what you need.
