    Welcome

FLIR SCOUT III 640 owner. There is good reason as to why they are illegal for hunting big game in my state. https://www.flircameras.com/flir-scout-3-640.htm -E-

    Unissued 1944 Remington 03-A3

Yes, correct. I have found a half dozen other examples posted on the Internet. All had the "OG" stamp in common and correct Parkerized/blued parts. All had late '43 barrels. Bruce Canfield also wrote about how many of the late built rifles were shipped straight off to Ogden. -E-

    WW2 K98k Restoration

Once I had the stocks in hand, the only part remaining were the sight hood and cleaning rod. Here again, WW2 originals are extremely expensive. Expect to shell out $100 each for clean marked examples. A collector on another forum had mercy on me and sold me a sight hood with some moderate...

    WW2 K98k Restoration

The stocks turned out to be the single most expensive part of the project.....even more than what I had paid for the rifle. The Germans made wide use of the laminate wood stocks and to my knowledge, were the only country to manufacture them for the K98k. So, if you see one, you know that...

    WW2 K98k Restoration

Early on in this project I decided that this was going to be no more than a shooter grade rifle. The original stocks were long gone, the barrel modified, the rear sight base no longer original, and the barrel bands and other stock parts missing. Original Mauser Oberndorf stocks could be found...

    WW2 K98k Restoration

The handguard retainer was initially an imposing repair. The retainer lip was a milled part of the rear sight base. The sight base itself is a circular and slides onto the barrel where it is then soldered in place. To remove the rear base from the barrel, necessitates also removing the front...

    WW2 K98k Restoration

Another WW2 project gun that I drug home a few weeks ago. This one was a sporterized 1943 K98k byf 43. When original, this rifle would have most likely had the laminated wood stocks that the Germans had begun using in the late 1930s, cupped steel butt plate, and been numbers matching on the...

    Unissued 1944 Remington 03-A3

My WW2 collection gained another rifle a couple weeks ago. This one popped up on a local gun board from a guy selling off a portion of his U.S. service rifles. I didn't get to examine the rifle in person, but the price was right and judging on the photos the seller sent me it looked really...

    Members' Firearms

So not HK but still pretty interesting. Plus, I haven't posted for a while. I have been playing the CMP lottery for a couple years now and sent in my application for a Round 3 1911A1. I received a Rack Grade1943 Remington Rand. Pretty nice pistol for a Rack Grade. It is a Type 2 Remington Rand...

    Springfield Armory G3

Very few were imported marked as "G3". The story goes that HK objected to the use of "G3" by Springfield so the model was changed to "SAR 3". -E-

MKE Stocks Back For A Short While

I got notification on my phone this afternoon while glassing a herd of 80 elk. Put the binos down and ordered up a 33 stock on my phone. Gotta love technology. https://atlanticfirearms.com/MKE-HK33-Retractable-Buttstock The 33 stocks are still showing available, but it sounds like the MP-5...

Has the whole world gone crazy?

Yeah, this thread has not aged well. There was a short time where the only MP-5 type pistol available in the U.S. was the newly reintroduced SP-5 from HK. MKE and Zenith had an ugly divorce which ended importation of the Turkish guns, and no one had seen a batch from POF/Pakistan for several...
