Apparently suppressing a PTR will void the warranty

Was perusing Reddit just now and came across a letter that was posted by a user 2 months ago. I do recall quite a few threads discussing various locking piece configurations. What do they expect you to affix to that 3 lug on the end of their PTR-9CT? Any experience out there?

My FFL has sold PTR for years. My observations have been that their QC has been decent with a spotty record. Not often, but he has sent a few back that I know of. Overall, it seems okay. I can honestly say that I've only sent one HK back for a repair. The safety broke on one of my P9's. I can't say it wasn't broken by another person, as several people were shooting it that day.

Seems like the PTR91 line is alright--- but the PTR-9C appears to be more problematic.

Original 91's were far from perfect. More teething issues would be my guess. They always made good on the returns from my FFL. Stand-up guys.

I’ve got one of the PTR 601-9CT’s and it runs flawless with multiple trigger packs. Several friends have them and run them full but one guy did have an out of spec BCG and PTR had a fit when we called them up stating it was bad. They said if it worked as a stock semi auto firearm as they sold it then they really didnt seem to care as they weren’t making machine guns. That one really pissed me off

Welcome to the site--- that response would definitely rub me the wrong way.

I don't think any mfr really likes people messing with their products. It's the same with cars. That was pretty blunt, though.

What’s really bad, though I understand it, they wanted the entire gun back to find “the problem” and I’m explaining them I’m an Armorer and found the problem-an our of spec BCG. They couldn’t figure out that when the gun doesn’t work with the one it came with, but yet you put 3 different ones in and the gun runs....well it seems logical. Or when you put the suspect BCG into a gun that runs perfect FA and it refuses to work.....well again it sure seems logical is a bad BGC. They didnt like that someone called them out....oh and they said it would have been over a 2 month turn around to get my customer his gun back......ummmm NOPE

PTR's Q/C, warranty, and customer service have been completely hit or miss in my experience.

PTR customer service wanted a friend of mine (not an FFL) to mail his pistol back to them via USPS for repair. He objected and they persisted in saying they were right and it was fine. It isn't. Being a nonlicensee, it wouldn't have gone well for him had he followed their direction.

If it ever happens again give me a shout, I have a few of all the P9S parts that usually don't break......;)

I don't think they know anything about silencers, and don't want anything to do with NFA stuff. That's any easy stance for them, and they'll sell all they make, regardless.

I think much of this is borne of guys buying the KT and suppressing them without the 80* LP.

They get roller marks and then wonder WTF?

Many new roller lock buyers that don't know the requirements/recommendations from HK with the "K" guns.

I use a suppressor on both my PTR SBRs and they are fine.

YMMV.

Plus PTR was using out of spec bolts that didn't fit an HK/RCM LP. That's on PTR. Cheaper to warranty a few than ditch the bolts they made OO spec I suppose.

I purchased one of the first PTR's 91- Farmingdale.
I believe that it might have said that in the paperwork...however I shot the piss out of it , tracers included, never a a jam caused by the PTR ! Also ,was compatible with many Genuine German HK parts. Early PTR was the best for me . I sold the rifle at a profit.

The early J.L.D. rifles (S.N. AXXXX) were high-quality and reliable rifles.
