Blank Firing Adapter for HK416

Anyone know what this 'thingy' on the HK416 magazine does? I take is some typical German over-engineered round limiter or something that prevents full length rounds... Never seen one of these before.

I've never seen one of these before either.

I suspect, it's a spacer, so the blank rounds are seated against the back of the mag and don't shift forward and be out of position when the bolt goes forward to pick up the round and causing a jam

which happen to me a few times when, when shooting blanks where the blank round jammed and I had to take the mag out and slap the back of the mag to seat the rounds
