Do you engage your core when shooting?

I had heard somewhere to engage your core when shooting and its suppose to give you tighter groups. I may do this sub-consciously, but Im not sure.

that's some made up nonsense phrase/saying a internet gun board commando came up with, to make him sound uber tactical/kewl

The answer is it depends. I wouldn't say it would improve group size per-se. What it can help with is improving follow-through when shooting at speed. For casual shooting with a pistol, you can get away with doing pretty much anything. The faster you shoot, the more you need to increase tension in certain areas like your wrists, forearms, etc. I would consider this an area of lesser concern than something like building a solid grip method with pistols.
 
I don't consciously engage my core, but I'm always wearing my crystal bracelet to positively influence, and engage, the appropriate chakra...
