Need input from you "experts". :giggle:

Does this A3 stock look like the real deal to you? It looks to have an actual date stamped on it as opposed to a date code.....8/27/78 is what I think it reads.
The butt has nicks and scrapes, but the rest of the stock has hardly a scratch or mark. I'm wondering if it might have been refinished.

What do you think?

Looks legit for a HK; older marking I see. May have had a new endcap and silicone buffer installed but looks great. Get it for a good price? I love the legacy A3 look.

The date is 8/2/78 (or 02-08-78). :)
Does not appear to have been refinished--- should have the blue-grey finish (late-1976-1983). ;)
But as @Tailflash noted, the end cap does not seem to have a uniform finish, and the H-buffer does appear to be new.

Well I own it now. It was part of an estate that was consigned at a LGS. I missed out on some of the other stuff (stick mags, A2 stocks). They were asking $600. I whined enough to get it for $500. Still can't believe how much these things are going for.

I still think it may be refinished and I am worried about the gap behind the push pin hole. Haven't tried it for fit yet. I'll do that later tonight.

just curios, but does anyone know when they change the "indent" on the release lever? probably not, but I'll ask anyways.

when I bought my A3 for my VECTOR 53, 15 years ago, I have 2 date codes on it, square with iK (89) on the butt and square with id (83) on the plastic part end cap, in front of the release lever
