I picked up this sad looking HK94 this last spring off GunBroker. Seller described it as a CA Dept Of Corrections gun that has seen lots of 'sling time' but said the internals looked like new and the rifling is crisp, so I took a chance on a $3899 bid and was successful. Nobody else bid, probably because they were scared off by the detailed pictures showing lots of external wear and patina on the bare metal areas, to include a spattering of rust on the front sling ring.

I'm contemplating on either a complete refinish & add new furniture or do a MP5-N SBR conversion. I already have a beautiful MP5-N marked SBR that Mike Otte did for me several years ago and couldn't be happier with the conversion/re-mark/fit/function of his work, but I don't have a HK94 anymore. In all my years of shooting, I've never come across anyone at any gun range or out in the wild, in possession or shooting a HK94 ever since they were introduced over 40 years ago.

Figured you guys would like some gun porn, albeit looking like it was dragged by chains behind a truck down a dusty dirt road and left out in the weather for a year or two...

I was shocked at the condition of the interior of the receiver as it looks brand new. The bolt/carrier/locking piece & recoil rod are in excellent condition. The hammer and interior of the trigger pack look nearly new, and I can't detect any wear whatsoever on the hammer spring shank or recoil rod. The barrel interior has strong rifling and no spots anywhere.

Refinish and keep it as a HK94! MP5>HK94 but there are a lot fewer 94s now and plenty of SP5s that can purrrrrrr with a pack. A beautiful late stage 94 will be a nice piece for a collector

Excellent acquisition and price. 😀
Although I see no electro-stenciled rack marks, it is a CA DOC rifle (A2 stock, "SP89" notched rear sight). :)
The bolt head and barrel are marked correctly for that serial number. ;)
Being II (1988), it will not have the newer barrel with 16-flute chambers or the “Action 3bolt head (KB/1991). :(
The internals appear very clean, and I would definitely have it refinished in the HK black finish (v. the NATO black finish for 1989 and 1991). :giggle:

Tony, you are correct, no electro-stenciling anywhere. This is the only stencil; appears to be '40' or '4C' on the bottom of the handguard. Another view of the interior...

I want to shoot mine but have gone almost 100% suppressor - so I think I will switch out a SP5L barrel - heresey perhaps but it is such a pleasant varmit gun and otherwise gets no use.
