I've seen some similar ones, but they were marked HK where your's is marked "Cidco"
I don't think the ALS's have been made in a long time.
I saw a Pulsar 2000-U (Cidco marked) go for just under $200 on GB pretty recently. Gatewood has a similar one in stock for $600+ I think.
They're certainly neat. Don't see a whole lot of them floating around anymore.

yeah, don't know what the difference between a -S and a -U, but both were made in the same month and year
I looked previously and could not find much but I'll dig again.
I was hoping someone on forum knew everything about them and would make it easy
. 
I did not save all the literature on sights and lasers then. There was as big change in laser sights ~1986-88 when laser LEDs became easily available Some sights became obsolete fast. Power supply in some of the very early ones would hum.

I dunno the difference between the models, or how much more/less desirable certain markings are over others.
From my limited ventures into German stuff though, those two letters "H" and "K" seems to add a tremendous amount of value to anything they're put on though.

If he still had the $.50 HK key ring it would bring a couple of hundred more bucks. Those Black Forest HK elves don't work for free hammering out those letters in the wee hours. I noticed laser is different model than box, but it might have been shipped that way. I never checked mine but at least I saved the box.

The label should be consistent with the Model Number.
There were also red boxes--- same accessories and gray foam inserts.
