My first H&K was purchased back on 1975. I fancied the P9S but thought the new VP70 Z was a great innovative design, and with astonishing 18 round mag

Welcome to your new home!

Back in 1975 an 18 round 9mm magazine was unheard of in a pistol and even in 1985 with the wonder 9's I think only the Steyr GB had an 18 round capacity,

Welcome to the site. I hope to eventually run across one some day, Is the trigger really as bad as everyone says?
Yes it is. Wolff's makes a replacement spring set that somewhat mitigates that but yeah, it's absolutely terrible.

I first saw/handled one in the Mainz Rod & Gun Club store on base in 1981. Interesting but hell no.

I tried both of them back in the 80's - bought the P9S -which is still my favorite pistol of all time.

Was recommended by a friend, a Marine Colonel and I have it to this day (and a few more) - feels like a part of my hand - a natural extension of my arm.

Used by the SEAL teams back in the 80's as a suppressed pistol.......

The "Z" model was a semi-auto pistol. I played with one when they came out, I thought "This trigger's worse than an SKS!"

The standard VP-70 was a selectfire gun with detachable shoulder stock. Don't see many of those today anywhere.
