P7 manufacture date...

EDC is an early production 4 digit serial # (8xxx) P7. No manufacture date letters on slide. Just 'DE'. Research indicates the DE possibly means an exchanged former Police service unit. How can I pinpoint the year manufactured? HP Charts anywhere? I found the year of my Winchester '94 .30-.30 from Winchester archives where they list the serial # production ranges by year. Does HP have anything similar? I have not been able to locate such info if so. Thx

I moved your post to the "P7 Series" subforum.
Presuming an HK Trussville or Columbus import.
Though not stamped, it will be an IA (1980) production.
"DE" is for Deutschland (Germany).

There were a bunch of used/refurbished P7's that came from Germany some years back. Lots had plum colored slides. They would have been a good investment.
