I was at a shoot over the weekend and the 4 prong flash hider on my HK51 decided it didn’t want to be on my HK51 anymore.....think I need a new one. The threads on the barrel are fine, thing just split down the middle....literally!

Thoughts on a new one?

Yikes! There's not much thickness in material where the wrenching flats are located. Did you 'smoke' this hider on with a wrench or just hand tight?

It was on the barrel when I got it. Thing was on there pretty solid. My guess is someone put it on, over tightened it, and well we know the rest.

I’m sure the 3 or 4 mag dumps didn’t help at all with heating the barrel up LOL

Well that same morning my M2 50 caliber had the barrel extension break which led to it firing with excessive headspace. It goes back to OOW to be checked out.

We did have a shooter get caught in the forehead with a piece of brass after a hang fire came out of the ejection chute on an M134 Mini Gun. It was the day for fluke shit to happen. Everyone is alive and kicking...I'm just waiting to see what happens with my M2HB....brand new gun and I didnt even have 300 rounds out of it. Used WWII API ammo when it happened, just hope the warranty it or least help with the bill cuz that gun was NOT cheap.

Had the exact same FH on a G3K DMR build... split exactly the same - the sharp cut at the termination of the slot is where the crack / failure seemed to be on my hider. I think i have it laying around here somewhere as a reminder of what/where to get parts from.

well, you can "roll the dice" and buy another 4-prong FH..........or get the "bird cage" one.

me? after experience what happened to that I would opt for the "bird cage"

Found the half from years back when the hider went south. I switched back to standard bird cage. It was clear that the material selected and the sharp flute edge at the termination of the cut exasperated the problem/design. Doesn’t look like the revised improved the design

Glad to see its not just me that has seen this issue. I haven't lookinged at new flash hiders as I have been busy with other things. I need to get one on order just so I can have it "fixed" LOL

The closed one will have less ring to it and likely will not come apart as the clone mini 53 FH do

What FH is that and will it fit a PTR32?

HK extended flash hider (P/N 237803) that was introduced for the HK243 & G28. I've fit these on my HK93, HK91, G36E, & V53, but these will not fit on a G36K due to the diameter of the knurled area on the G36K muzzle is approx 0.06 larger. This FH should also work on a G36C - but I don't have one of those to verify.

This FH should fit a PTR32 if those take a standard HK-type 15x1 TPI Flash Hider. I purchased a couple of these years ago when Augustine-Waffenteile (Germany) was still in business. I see that German Gun Works is out of these at the moment. I just did a search on HK Parts but now can't find these same flash hiders (HK or USA made). I think they had the USA ones for around $100, but now both are gone off their site.

RKS Plus has them in stock (don't get them confused with RKS-USA). I've ordered a bunch of stuff from RKS-Plus in the past and had to do an overseas IBAN bank transfer (didn't accept Credit Cards) which cost me somewhere around $60 fee alone, but they shipped everything immediately once funds were verified on their end.

Hope this helps.

Wow, that's some great info you put it and awesome pics! Almost 300 bucks for this. I'm gonna have to think about this, lol.
Looks really good, though. Thank you!
