I found a (presumably used,no box, etc, but very nice) USP .45ACP at a local GS yesterday, priced at $799 but I can get it for about $725_$750 because I used to work with the owner) . I don't remember what I paid for the last USP I had (it was a LEM, this 1 has a thumb safety).
Is it worth the price?
I really want one but I don't want to overpay.

Sounds like a pretty good deal (presuming internals look good). ;)
What is the date code?

Honestly have no idea about the date code, but it doesn't look like it was used much

I would definitely say that over $700 is high for a used USP .45

But these are CV19 times, and prices are higher than normal.

If it has box, papers, 2+ mags and is in nice shape - those things add value as well.

I personally would not buy at that price, but if it makes you happy and see the value, that is what is important.

"Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten..."

I only saw the pistol and the mag in it, but I'm going back to the shop Monday, and will ask
Due to extensive damage to Left Arm, I have trouble retracting the slide on most .45s, but I have no trouble with HKs. That adds value on a personal level.

Fwiw, I think it's a Varient 9 (S-F, hammer does not drop when placed on Safe)

@sniperdoc This new one was for sale for $899. At a hundred dollars more - it would have been my choice. Because you think you can snag yours for $750 - I might consider it if it was in 95+ % condition.

It's in VG/Excellent condition; if it only had Tritium Sights and a few Mags!

Thanks for your reply. Tomorrow or Tuesday I will go to the shop and get the date code, ask about "extras" (mags, box, etc) and out the door price. Standard Layaway there is 10% down, pay off balance in 90 days, but I can fudge that a bit. (Small town, and as I said, used to work with the owner)
