Anybody know what year HK quit shipping the USP in the grey plastic case and started using the black clamshell?
I know, but then the answer wouldn't be searchable for posterity2002--- gray transitioned to black--- you could have called me.

My USP match 9mm came in a faux wood case... and left in the same one. It was the only one of those I have ever owned. But I need the faux wood case--- proper for a 1996.
Tony

It's actually a Logan's Run reference - Sanctuary. Sorry Vinnie, wasn't thinking of youThanks for the info Tony & Ender
I always just ASSuMEd that the case changed in 2000 with the AA Hks
Now we know 2002
I want a grey compacts case but really don't need it for my KH 1997 stainless
It would just end up in the basements safe bottom with the rest collecting dust
ENDER every time I see that new avatar I think of Vincent Cusono = Vinnie Vincent of KISS

Are those Cases Grey or Gray?? Mine has to be GRAY = GARY Within It...
Crazy amount of info stored within that brain Tony..
Do you have the Nuke Codes Too? HaHaHa!!
So there are two different Gray cases I assume they are both used for the full size & compact?
I will pick one up when I come across one, Won't give more than $50 being it will never be used until the pistols are sold
It can hang out with the other Hk black case & several S&W Cardboard Boxes in the bottom of the basements safe
The pistol missing the case is a KH/97 Stainless Compact 40 = 1995-2002
So Compacts & Full Size use a different case + change 93-95 + 95-02 = Four different gray cases total..
Give me the 1st digits of the nuke codes Tony..
