Well its not much of a story but one of being educated...Gman,
OK, SPILL... what WAS so special about that P12?
I mean, for just what it is, it's worth collecting.
But you have peaked my interest for the story on this one.
Enlighten all of us, ok?
thx.
IMO, They're nice for show.......but dang, after about the 5th round, it's like getting you teeth kicked in by a mule!!!!These days I have kept a couple of P9S for personal use, one a Sport set up for a can, the other a Sport Group I for carry/showing what these things can do. (SG 1 looks like a regular P9S, fixed sights, the giveaway is the adjustable trigger stop in the trigger guard, pop the slide off and you will usually see a trigger adjustment screw in there same as Sport, Sport Target, SGIII.....)
Mk23 and USP Tactical in 9mm. Might go with an RMR on the Tactical if I can find another slide. I'd try it out on the MK23 but good luck finding a decently priced secondary slide. Not cutting the original on either. TiRant full size .45 (wish I had the K model) and GemTech Multimount 9mm. Need a real performer with 1.25" OD to replace that 1.35" BS on the Gemtech which is just big enough to screw with a perfectly acceptable set of sights on the Tactical. Too bad Knight's doesn't make a companion can to their .45 in 9mm.......paging Mr. Reid Knight, Mr. Knight to the white courtesy phone please.....Need a pair of the Knights cans as well. I have a USP CT but not a fan really, it's POI with the Novak fixed suppressor sights is so far off as to be unusable past point blank range and I have never got around to installing the adjustables I bought to replace them to see WTF is going on with that. Both these cans need to be replaced by something else for these applications, IMHO.
I plan to explore a USP-C in 9mm with an RMR for EDC. (9mm Micro can as an adjunct) Currently stuck with the same pair of Glocks, a 17 and a 19. (17 IWB, 19 Crossdraw, a good pair and uses the 17 mag for both as a spare, 2x) Inertia and lack of good kydex. You'd think that wouldn't be so, but a lot of it is trash, made as cheap as possible by the latest 5 guys to buy a kit somewhere......I hate clips, as a starting point. We need a good Kydex IWB and Crossdraw both for the P9S and people look at me (yeah it's over the internet, but I can tell.....) like I have a dick growing out of my forehead......"the what?"....
I'll never get rid of my MP5SD. Because.
Other than that, although I still love the H&K stuff intellectually, I've moved on somewhat but for those specific guns. Going to play further with the USP but........ Sold the '91, bought a Tavor X95 in 5.56 (really wanted .300 but current circumstance....) and a T7 in 7.62x51. OMFG. Can't wait for the .50BMG version. Sorry, H&K lost me with anything in 7.62 when they decided to fuck us all over by going with a proprietary mag instead of the PMAGS that both the T7 and my LMT run on. (The LMT got the nod over the H&K whatever) Short sighted but what else is new.
Speaking of short sighted, I am still waiting for MP7 semi pistols. Don't sell 10K of them or anything.....
Always liked Bullpup concept, the advantages are undeniable and the downsides largely theoretical or habitual....love the AUG but it's dated design/tech and they refuse to upgrade by making .300 barrels available to the US market, while Austrian SWAT guys have them for years now. Excuses suck. Love .300 Super/Sub concept, so off we go with the Tavor, which has a pretty much spotless record in 10 years of service. Shot the X95 (long stroke gas piston by the way) in .300 with a can/Supers at SHOT Industry Day at the Range 3 years ago, loved it then but hoped Steyr would come through...."No Joy from the (other) Land of Nein"........so I finally pulled the trigger on that. The NATO stock semi AUG will go up for sale after the InAUGuration....The Postie not, that progressive trigger is something else. Love it. For selective fire in 5.56 I would still have no problem with an AUG. Selector switches suck. Why H&K never went there and built "The World's Ultimate Bullpup" I don't know but that ship of many has already sailed, you aren't going to improve much on the X95, just build your version.
Belt fed, away from H&K anything (expensive, parts, etc.) to a SAW and a couple of MG3's or 240's. Looking for a C5A1 or do a build/conversion of a 191A4 or two. A pair of any of those in tandem is the poor man's Mini-Gun, no need for electricity and if one goes down the other keeps running. Theoretically.....
Need a .50 BMG too. But then we all do....
Well funny you should mention the M2HB... I've had one of those too. The one I had was built by John McGuire from TN. I had mine for less than 10 years along with a 1919 that he also built for me. Shooting those on a tripod was fun for a while but burning through ammo on belt feds got boring after a while and was crazy expensive... especially on the M2HB... but YMMV.When I said .50 BMG, only half of that was referring to the cartridge......
By BMG I meant "M2 HB". Sorry, I should have been more specific.
IF we were talking Barrett (and there's a place for that) "we" would be talking suppressed. The muzzle brakes are effective at what they do but the muzzle blast being directed back towards the shooter to mitigate recoil has a cost, rearward directed muzzle blast has reported detached retina's, no reason to do THAT.....
You said that right... I don't see anything good coming down the road with the crap they are proposing. They haven't built what I really want. A full-size/compact/sub-compact USP, variant-1, single stack, and in 38-super. They should slim-down the whole pkg. With the new cabal in charge, I don't think we'll be seeing much good for the hobby.

Yeah I told them that at SHOT a couple years in a row. Blank looks. The whole parallel of how many H&K guns have been sold in the USA by the Turks, the Paki's and a dozen manufacturers here in the US vice if they had decided to obviate the Import Branch as a business concern by building a factory here two decades earlier like SIG and FN. NO ONE would buy anything but H&K if availability and price point were there. I have a lot of fun with 5.7mm and I'd like to do the same with 4.6mm.MP7 pistol... yeah right... that would be beyond a dream... one way too big to even allow myself to dream at this point. Can you even imagine how many people would line up to buy one... OMG... they would sell for well over 10k on GB for the early ones... I almost cringe to think what they would go for... lol. Darn... there goes my last kidney.
