Saw a similar thread on another forum (no, not THAT one) and have always found these threads interesting…what was your first “real” gun? I don’t necessarily mean what was the first gun you purchased but what was the first one you owned? Do you still have it?

Mine is a pre-war Winchester 67A Youth single-shot .22 that I got from my dad when I was six. It was his when he was a kid. Overall good shape for its age, has seen a zillion rounds and still extremely accurate. Still have it sitting in one of my safes. What say you HKPS?

This is going to be embarrassing, so please don't judge me… I was young and stupid!!!
So for me it wa s a .38 RG… yup… thats what it was. I was still in the Air Force and couldn't afford a Colt 1911.
I think it was the next year i picked up a S&W Nickel plated Model 19 .357 Magnum.

My first ever gun was a Ruger Deluxe Sporter 10/22, SerNo. 111-1539X. Paid for it myself with money I earned mowing lawns when I was 12 or 13-years old way back in the early 70s. Sold it Dec 2010 to an old Air Force buddy of mine here in Utah as a gift to his son. Don't know if he ever got out shooting much and I just might inquire to see if he's willing to sell it back to me as I kind of miss it.
Back then, we could go into the local hardware store and purchase .22LR ammo and nobody ever frowned at the purchase. "Going shooting? You kids have fun & be safe."

1919a4 semi I built from a kit as soon as I was 18. First practical firearm was a Belgian matching numbers stg-58 I built on an imbel receiver.

My first and it was treasured at the time i think i was 12 or 13 was an Ithaca M-49 single shot lever action .22. This was early 70s and i gave it to my nephew about 20 years ago when he was about the same age.

First handgun FIE .38 special double barrel derringer ala Remington look.

~15 pound trigger - flew out of my hand at age 18 - sold it and the box of ammo (minus 1) the next day.

#2 Colt single action .22 - still have it

Ruger GP 100 4”
Went out to the desert in AZ with a old friend. No hearing protection cause we were young and stupid. I pulled that trigger back hammer cocks, releases and there’s that slight delay as the hammer comes down and strikes the primer and then going off, felt like an eternity. But after that, I missed the Sam that we were shooting at which was all of 10 feet away on the ground, lol and managed to blow all the wax that was in my ears out of both ears, which then proceeded to go. Boooooooiiiiiinnnng rinnnnggggggg for the next few hours. We were shouting at each other because neither of us could hear

Same thing happened when I first shot the S&W 629--- ringing stopped later in the day. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Savage Model 89 for my first rifle. Ruger Mark II bull barrel for my first pistol.
Still have them both.

Mossberg model 395 shotgun 12 gauge. Dad and mom bought it for me for Christmas when I was 14. Lightweight, so it kicks like a mule with 3 in shells. Shot it earlier this year about dusk and was trying to get my daughter to shoot it (she declined) she said the fire coming out the end looked like elmer fudd in the cartoons:oops:

Ithaca M-49 single shot .22. it was a gift from my dad when I was 9. Thanks dad! Came home from college one summer and my mother had given it away. Thanks mom! (I used to have a ton of Lionel trains too)
