Well it's always been from a content perspective, but now it's unusable - at least the desktop version. It's once again been redesigned and now requires you to sign in to arrange things (which I refuse to do).

While I use DuckDuckGo to search most things, I liked it as a jumping off point as well as a way to get an orderly list of current news, sports and general BS stories. Yes I'm smart enough to discern left wing propaganda ;)
What if any, are you all using for a home page these days?

I have four homepages: HK Pro Shop, Google Search, DuckDuckGo, and a ecommerce site that sells vintage baseball cards (my other hobby). The only thing, aside from left wing propaganda, that Yahoo! has been doing to piss me off is the addition of fluff fake advertisement articles. I still use it though.

For a homepage? A blank page. I don't need more marketing every time I open a new window or tab.

For search, Google has historically been the most accurate, but they're also evil.

DuckDuckGo also has a minimalist, no JavaScript version which is faster and a much better experience.

Searx
Also, for an even more privacy-respecting search option, there's Searx. It's a metasearch engine, meaning it aggregates results from multiple search engines. It's also open source, which means you can download, install, use, and modify it if you are so technically-inclined.

For the simple option, choose a public server from this list. These are instances other people are hosting on their own servers. Since they're other people's servers, you still want to be careful. I'd recommend still using a VPN. The benefit to a metasearch engine like this is, when you search, the results are being aggregated through that server and not your computer. So the search engines being aggregated are not directly getting any of your data about what you're searching for.

I have GOOGLE as my "home page" but that is just to get me on the internet, I use that because it doesn't have anything on it except for the word GOOGLE and a "search box", no news, ads etc... I use my "bookmarks" to get to where I want to go.
